Colts Pond Road Preserve was given to Joshua’s Trust in 1999 when an abutting parcel was subdivided. The western side of the property is covered with a young deciduous forest, and the eastern side is a red maple and scrub-shrub swamp that drains into the state’s Pumpkin Hill Wildlife Management Area. A forested knoll runs through the property, from north to south.
An important part of a greenway in both Ashford and Chaplin, the Colts Pond Road Preserve fills a gap between the Trust’s Friedman Forest and Pinkham Easement to the west, and a State property that stretches to Rte. 198 and Chaplin Center to the east.
Location: Frontage on Colt’s Pond Road and Pumpkin Hill Road in Ashford. The south boundary is on the town line.
