Nature Journaling with Arts & Crafts

Bring your enthusiasm for the natural world and leave with a personal journal, inspired by the landscape of Atwood Farm. This workshop is an opportunity to engage with nature in a dynamic way. Nature journaling is all about expressing your inquisitiveness and wonder through sketching, calligraphy, writing, and other forms of artmaking. Tap into your curiosity and start recording the natural world that surrounds you using observational skills unique to you.
Please bring any art supplies you have and enjoy working with (e.g. watercolors, pen and ink, markers, pencils). Paper plus additional art supplies and tools will be provided. All levels and ages 12 and up are welcome. The emphasis of this workshop is on the creative process and having fun; no previous drawing experience is required.
This activity is generously provided by Kristel Schoonderwoerd, a postdoctoral researcher in UConn’s Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a contributor to UConn’s NatureRx initiative.
