Finding Deep Time on Earth Day

UConn’s Professor Thorson will guide us up to a viewpoint ledge and back for a moderate round-trip hike of about 2 miles. Enroute, he will link the local tangible landscape in real time to the global causes in deep time. At several points, he will read brief literary excerpts, one being by James Hutton’s Theory of the Earth (1795).
The trail is steep in places. Appropriate hiking gear is recommended.
