Broadway Meadow is one of the Trusts smaller parcels, occupying the corner of North Farms Rd. and Broadway Rd at just under 9 acres. While there are no trails, the forested and grassy area provides a scenic view along the roads. The hayfield serves as a habitat to birds and small mammals. Stewards Laura Neto-Price and Steve Price ensure that the property is maintained as a clean environment for the wildlife. On one of their regular visits, they were shocked to find that someone had dumped a large pile of tires along the roadside. Though it was never found out who left the tires, another JT supporter was happy to help dispose of them properly. “Through some calls, we were able to find a local business, who prefers to remain anonymous, to take them off our hands free of charge! Hooray! A challenge completed! I had told the business that the tires had been dumped on a Joshua Trust property, and he thanked all of us at Joshua Trust for all we do, reporting how he and his wife are very familiar with the trails, hiking them throughout the Mansfield area,” said Laura.
It is collaborative efforts like this that sustain the spaces for wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation, and scenic views that are enjoyed by every visitor. You do not have to be affiliated with any conservation organization to be a steward of the land. I hope their story inspires you to act and engage others to clean up your communities.
Thank you again Laura and Steve! – Joshua’s Trust Staff
