About the Property

This attractive parcel was the gift of Mildred W. Church, the widow of Bernard Church, and of her two daughters and her son. Bernard Church was Town Clerk of Chaplin for 52 years.

This preserve offers four distinct habitats for wildlife. In addition to the young oak-hickory forest that covers much of it, there are also two agricultural fields – one in corn and one in hay. A small marsh lies in the northeast corner and is surrounded by shrubby vegetation that provides good wildlife cover.

Donors: Members of the Church family in honor of their father, Bernard Church
