Evergreen Walk at Tinkerville Brook Preserve
December 16, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us as we explore the many evergreen species at one of our most verdant preserves. Ferns, mosses, mountain laurel and many small native plants like wintergreen stay green throughout the winter months and provide a wonderful excuse to get outside. We’ll meet at the parking area and follow the 2-mile loop trail as it meanders through mountain laurel thickets and eastern hemlock groves and down into the valley where a number of ferns await. Bring a magnifier if you’d like to take a closer look at any species of magnificent lichens that don the trees and glacial erratics at Tinkerville.
This will be a slow-paced walk but there are rocks and roots to navigate. Rain will cancel the event but snow may not. It depends. I will post here and on our Instagram and Facebook accounts if we need to cancel.
Registration not required.
For a preview of the evergreens we might see on this walk, visit our Evergreen Guide HERE. You’re welcome to print this and bring it along on the hike. I’ll bring extra copies for walk participants.
