Have you ever noticed that you feel better after a walk in the woods? In the past two decades, numerous studies have shown that spending time in nature is beneficial for mental health for people of all ages. In this talk I will provide a brief overview of some of these studies before turning to the question of why this is the case. What are the hypotheses for why spending time in nature, defined broadly, generally leads to improved markers of mental health, and what is the evidence?
