(SEE EDIT) Walktober #238 – Wednesday Walk at Allanach-Wolf Woodlands
October 25, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am
EDIT: Much of this trail is flooded due to rain and an industrious beaver. The length of this hike will likely be reduced to just over a mile. We’ll explore the open meadow near the parking area then check out the pine areas along Lake Marie out to the bird blind and up to the flooded area and back. It’s quite beautiful at the moment. This will be a great introduction to the property if you’re not familiar with it.
Join us at Allanach-Wolf Woodlands for a relaxed ramble around Lake Marie and into the woods (and back).
The terrain here is varied. We’ll begin at the parking lot and walk the paved road for a very brief time before taking the loop into the pollinator garden then into the pine-rich woods. There is some root exposure here with gentle hills. We’ll venture to the yellow trail which is mostly grass with some rocks and roots to step over. This section is fairly flat but does require us to walk through some tall grass and ferns. Please be tick-safe and either bring propellant or long socks to tuck in your pants.
Click HERE for a trail map and directions to the preserve.
The walk begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. and will be cancelled in the event of rain. Bring water and appropriate hiking gear as needed.
I will post on Instagram and Facebook as well as this page if we decide to cancel the walk due to weather or other, unforeseeable circumstances.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call me, Michelle Poudrette, the Development and Communications Manager, at (860) 429-9023, or email me at michelle.poudrette@joshuastrust.org. Registration is not required.
