About the Property
This preserve is the bequest of Harriet E. Babcock, a longtime resident of the Spring Hill section of Mansfield and a member of both Joshua’s Trust and the Mansfield Historical Society. This relatively small but strategically placed property connects to other preserved parcels in the area and contains a variety of habitats. Oak-hickory forest dominates the parcel with a red maple swamp along Chapin Brook.
The yellow-blazed trail runs past Chapin Brook, turns uphill, and joins up with the Bird Loop Trail on Mansfield’s Schoolhouse Brook Park. The Bird Loop Trail can be followed until you reach another Joshua’s Trust preserve, the Holt-Kinney Woods.
